The instrument known as a shofar is made
of a ram's horn and has a distinct sound
quality which has been heard from early
Bible days. It is also a symbol of Rosh
Hashanah (Jewish Feast of Trumpets).
Jewish shofars were primarily used for
making a proclamation and not for making
music.
